Welcome to GetToKnowTheBible.com
It is our goal to provide you with Bible Study materials that will help you understand the Bible more completely. We believe that there is nothing more important than getting to know the Bible. The gospel is called, "the power of God for salvation" (Romans 1:16). It has been described as "a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105). The philosophy behind this website is that if we share information about what the scriptures say, you will be able to take that information and apply it to your life in a way that will lead you to salvation. Jesus Christ stated, "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). We are dedicated to making Jesus Christ's answers our answers. If that is what you are looking for, you have entered the right place to study and learn.
We are here to share information and to answer your questions as you study. This can be done by studying the lessons which we will provide and by you emailing your questions to us as they come up. We will answer each question as quickly as possible.
We know that there is more to being a Christian than just knowing the scriptures. However, to be saved one must know them. A wise man once said, "You can know the scriptures without being a Christian, but you can't be a Christian without knowing the scriptures." We pray that God will bless your study as you learn His will.

Our Philosophy at Get To Know The Bible Ministries
We want to be clear about out philosophy about the scriptures because it affects how one approaches the Bible. We believe the scriptures are God speaking to man. We believe that contained within the sixty six books of the Old and New Testament God has given us everything that we need to live according to his will and to be pleasing to him. The Bible says, “All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV).
We are told, “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3 ESV). The Bible’s claim to accuracy is that it is so accurate that not only are the words but also that differences such as singular and plural as well as verb tense is totally accurate. Galatians 3:16 points out that the scripture was accurate to use the word “offspring” rather than “offsprings” because it was referring to one individual, that is Christ. Jesus showed that the scriptures are precise in verb tense when he used the argument that the scriptures use present tense to describe Abraham, Isaac and Jacob because they are still alive even though they died many years ago (Mark 12:26-27 ESV). Notice also in that passage that, although Moses physically wrote it, it was God who was doing the speaking.
Since this is true, then there are conclusions we should make.
First, there is no need for other writings to tell us what we should believe. We reject the idea that there are latter day revelations such as the Book of Mormon. As to creeds such as are found in use in many churches today, we ask, “Why do we need them? If they say the same thing as the Bible, we don’t need them because we can read it in the Bible. If they say something different than the Bible, we completely reject it!” Therefore, on this site you will find a purposeful attempt to help you understand what the Bible says without trying to convince you that you should follow what any man teaches. If the Bible says it, we believe it. We will do our best to (1) help you understand what the Bible says and (2) encourage you to do just that.
We take very seriously the words spoken in Galatians 1:8-9, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.” As the last book of scripture was closing, a final warning was pronounced, “I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book” (Revelation 22:18-19 ESV; see also Deuteronomy 4:2,12:32 and Joshua 1:8). We believe with the writer of Proverbs 30:5, “Every word of God proves true.”
Because of our belief in the Bible as the true and accurate way to know God and how he wants us to live, we will share with you what the scriptures say. Sometimes we will also share information from church history to help you understand what early Christians practiced and explain times where some things have been changed over the years. As much as possible, we will advocate for practicing Christianity as it was in the first century, encourage you to do the same also and to look for churches in your area that have that same goal.
It is our hope that you will follow the example of the people of Berea whom the Bible describes, “They received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so” (Acts 17:11 ESV). And, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV)
